Conference Updates - Tuesday 26th April (Postal Industry Conference)

Our General Secretary opens postal conference with a passionate speech, he pays tribute to the work that everybody in the CWU does and states "we are nothing without each other".

 

 

   

Woody and Bob Mcguire speak in support of Emergency motion E1 regarding conduct action against reps.The motion is carried unanimously

-Motion 1 instructing the Postal Executive to enter into urgent negotiations to resolve the issue of members not being able to take annual leave, the motion was carried unanimously.

-Motion 4 ask the Postal Executive to pursue formal agreement on annual leave pick timescales, motion is carried.

-Motions 6 and 7 asking fort agreement that all Area Safety Reps and Area Delivery Reps are supplied with RMG laptops that allow access to the RMG network. Both motions were carried.

 

Bob McGuire strongly opposes motion 10 on behalf of our branch, right sentiment but wrong motion, the motion was not carried ‪#‎CWU16

 

 

-Motion 12 which asks the Postal Executive to negotiate with RM a joint statement that supports the principles of "doing the job properly" in Delivery which includes specific principles, the motion is carried unanimously.

 

     

Great speech from a junior doctor results in further standing ovations, which was followed by packed out coaches of CWU reps going to the hospital picket lines to support their action.

 

Woody speaks in support of emergency motion E3 regarding protecting POL members, the motion was carried unanimously oody supports emergency motion E3.

 

Motion 24 is carried unanimously and instructs the Postal Executive to open discussions with employers where the CWU is recognised, to seek improvements at work for women that experience menopause.

 

Mark Hugall supports motion 25 asking for agreement that requires a minimum of 2 people to open/close and operate in any unit, the motion was not carried.

 

Motion 41 conference agrees that the threat of Uber entering the parcels market should be of grave concern to our members, the motion asks for a campaign that highlights this and opposes this model in the UK. The motion is carried unanimously.

Well done to Laura who moved motion 44 in her first speech to Postal Conference, the motion instructs the Postal Executive to produce a Crown Office Closure pack to assist branches when campaigning against proposed  closures, it was carried unanimously.
